THE JOHN WOOD CUP

 

John Wood MBE ~ Memorial Cup

Swindon Model Railway Club wished to commemorate their respect following the bereavement of John Wood MBE not long after the Modrail 2001 Exhibition.

It was decided by the club that a Trophy would be named in his memory.

John was Swindon Model Railway Club's Secretary and Exhibition Handbook Editor for over 20 years.

The John Wood Memorial Cup is awarded annually to the 'Best Layout in Show'. Modrail 2002 being the first year.

The award is judged by three of the club's senior officers.

The winning layout in 2002 was Dartley a 4mm:1ft Scale layout to P4 Standards.


In 2003 it was the turn of 'Tolcarn Engine Shed' to be judged the 'Best Layout in Show'.

Tolcarn Engine Shed was a 7mm:1ft Scale layout.


Modrail 2004 produced a very worthy winner.

P4 layout 'Great Bardfield' by David Hawkins (South Hants MRC).


Modrail 2005 produced the public's favourite as winner.

This time it was the 00 layout 'Penhallick' by Mel Rees, Jerry Winterson and Mike Nash.


Modrail 2006 produced ? ?
